Hyundai garnered total domestic sales of 47,837 units in May 2026 with a 9.1 per cent increase over the same month last year

Nearly 1 lakh vehicles sold in just two months has given Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) a big opening to FY27. The company has carried its momentum from the previous financial year into the new one supported by healthy domestic demand despite a slower pace in exports. Hyundai reported domestic sales of 47,837 units in May 2026 – registering a 9.1 per cent increase over the same month last year.

The figures show continued demand across the company’s passenger vehicle lineup as it prepares to introduce multiple new products and technologies over the coming years. Export volumes contributed 13,300 units during the month. Combined with domestic dispatches, the Korean auto major recorded total sales of 61,137 units last month.

While domestic volumes posted a single digit increase, total sales grew at a more moderate 4.1 per cent on a year on year basis due to export performance. The difference between local and export shipment growth is evident in the overall numbers. The domestic sales accounted for more than three quarters of Hyundai total monthly volume.
