2026 Honda City gains notable exterior and interior updates while remaining the same mechanically
Honda has rolled out the second major update for the fifth generation City in India with prices beginning at Rs. 12 lakh (ex-showroom). The sedan remains available in four trims namely SV, V, ZX and ZX+ while both petrol and strong hybrid powertrains have been retained without mechanical changes. Honda has also introduced a new black exterior paint shade while carrying forward the remaining colour choices from the previous model.
A full width LED strip stretching across the grille now gives the Honda City a very different face compared to the outgoing model along with redesigned bumpers, ventilated seats and a larger touchscreen. Most of the visual revisions are concentrated at the front. The updated City now gets slimmer LED headlamps featuring a split daytime running light pattern linked through a horizontal light bar integrated into the grille.
The chrome treatment used earlier has been removed entirely and replaced with a cleaner body coloured section above the honeycomb grille pattern. Honda has also revised the bumper with a wider central air intake and sharper side sections. In profile, the sedan receives newly designed dual-tone 16-inch alloy wheels while the rear gets a tweaked bumper layout with repositioned reflectors and a body coloured faux diffuser element.

Although the silhouette remains familiar, the changes give the sedan a more angular appearance than before. Inside the cabin, Honda has retained much of the earlier dashboard layout but added a larger 10.1 inch touchscreen infotainment system. Unlike the older integrated display, the new unit now sits slightly raised above the dashboard.
Physical controls for climate functions and steering mounted switches have been retained which should appeal to consumers preferring conventional layouts over touch heavy interfaces. Feature additions include front ventilated seats and a new 360 degree camera system. The equipment list also includes wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charger, ambient lighting, eight speaker audio setup, electric sunroof and rear sunshade.
The Level 2 ADAS package remains part of the sedan along with six airbags, lane watch camera, hill start assist and rain sensing wipers. Under the bonnet, the City continues with the proven 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine producing 121 hp and 145 Nm. Buyers can choose between a six speed manual gearbox and a seven step CVT automatic.
The strong hybrid setup also remains unchanged and combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine with electric motors for a total output of 126 hp and 253 Nm paired with an e CVT transmission. Honda claims fuel efficiency of 27.26 kmpl for the hybrid version and has now introduced a five year warranty package covering hybrid related components as well. It continues to rival Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia.
