From Maruti Suzuki to VinFast, four companies to launch seven-seat electric MPV and SUV models in India by mid-2027
With improving battery technology and growing charging infrastructure along the highways, EVs have started to gain acceptance among customers looking for large three-row SUVs and MPVs in India. Several three-row EVs are already available from mainstream brands today, and four more are coming within a year:
1. Maruti YMC
Maruti Suzuki has started testing a three-row electric MPV, codenamed ‘YMC’, on Indian roads. The company has developed this model on the same platform as the e-Vitara, and some of the SUV’s aesthetic influence is evident at the front and in the side profile. It will launch the three-row EV sometime in the first half of 2027, and a Toyota-badged version would follow shortly after.

The Maruti YMC will likely be offered with mostly the same set of features as well as the same batteries and powertrains as the e-Vitara. It should offer seats for six or seven people and be capable of travelling up to around 525 kilometres on a single charge.

2. VinFast Limo Green
The VinFast Limo Green is the 7-seat MPV that spawned the VinFast VF MPV 7. VinFast launched the VF MPV 7 in India in April and plans to introduce the Limo Green in the coming months. The upcoming model will be targeted at ride-hailing service providers and other commercial customers.

The Limo Green settles for 18-inch alloy wheels instead of the VF MPV 7’s 19-inch units and has a few other minor downgrades, but is otherwise largely the same. Like the VF MPV 7, it delivers an NEDC range of 450 kilometres.
3. MG 520

520 is the codename of a 7-seat SUV that JSW MG Motor plans to launch in October. It will simply be a rebadged version of the Wuling Starlight 560 developed by the SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture in China. Like the Chinese model, it will be available in plug-in hybrid and pure electric variants. The latter, which will compete with the Mahindra XEV 9S, can deliver a range of up to 500 kilometres, as per CLTC.

4. Tata Safari.ev

As its name suggests, the Tata Safari.ev will be the pure electric variant of the Tata Safari. Expected to be offered in 6- and 7-seat versions and be launched in late October, it should come with the same batteries, powertrains, and features as the Tata Harrier.ev. The new three-row electric SUV will likely have a range of up to around 600 kilometres.
