Designed and engineered mainly for India and other emerging markets, the next-gen Kia Sonet will go on sale in 2027
The next-gen Kia Sonet has been spied in India again, this time from much closer and additional angles. Despite heavy camouflage on the test mule, the latest sighting has revealed several new details.
This is the first time we’re getting a look at the next-gen Kia Sonet’s rear-end. The future model will have newly designed tail lamps, possibly featuring a vertical orientation unlike the current model’s horizontal units. The upper part of the tailgate would have a forward lean, maintaining the crossover silhouette.
The front-end of the Kia Sonet is also undergoing a full redesign, with everything from the headlamps to the radiator grille, lower air intake, and bumper carrying a new look. The new radiator grille is positioned lower than that of the current model and has a simpler design. Kia appears to have used split headlamps on the next-gen model for a more aggressive look.

On the sides, Kia is aiming for a sportier styling with a more strongly rising beltline and a sleeker greenhouse. The new 16-inch alloy wheels of the next-gen Sonet feature the same geometric design and dual-tone colour scheme as the 17-inch alloy wheels of the all-new Seltos.
The interior of the next-gen Kia Sonet should have a completely new look, featuring a sleeker dashboard with Trinity Panoramic Display, a new steering wheel, a more ergonomic centre console, and more stylish door panels.

Kia will likely offer features such as ventilated seats, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite navigation, a wireless smartphone charger, and connected car functions. The company may also equip the next-gen model with a panoramic sunroof. On the safety front, Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems, a 360º camera system, a dashcam, and six airbags could be among the highlights.

Expected to be based on the new K1 platform that underpins the Syros, the next-gen Sonet should be safer and more spacious than the current model. Kia plans to launch it in 2027, possibly with the same engines and transmissions as the current model. The company has confirmed that it will introduce a hybrid system in the Sonet by 2029.
