JSW MG Motor posted a domestic tally of 6,018 units in April 2026 against 5,829 unit sales with a 3 per cent year-on-year growth

The volume numbers were modest but positive for JSW MG Motor last month with total sales reaching 6,018 units against 5,829 units during the same period in 2026 with a 3 per cent year-on-year growth but down 8 per cent from March 2026’s 6,528 units. The Comet’s 215 per cent year-on-year jump was the headline growth number but the absolute volume was not impressive – 601 units against 191 units in April 2025.

The Windsor EV continued to play the major part in recording volumes as 3,296 units were registered but it was the weakest performer in relative terms – down 10 per cent year-on-year from 3,660 units and a more notable 27 per cent below March’s 4,530 units. The MoM drop was understandable considering the industry often looks to end a FY on a high.

For a model that has been MG’s primary volume driver since launch and the best-selling electric car in India for FY2026, the sequential and year-on-year declines are worth watching particularly as competition in the electric midsize SUV space intensifies from automakers like Mahindra and Tata while Maruti Suzuki has joined the fray as well.

The Hector was the appreciable positive story after the Comet – growing 33 per cent year-on-year to 1,297 units from 977 units in April 2025 and posting an even more impressive 53 per cent sequential jump from March’s 850 units. The ZS EV posted 717 units – down 17 per cent year-on-year from 864 units but up 74 per cent sequentially from a March total of 411 units.

The MG Astor contributed 107 units – down 20 per cent year-on-year but up 95 per cent from March’s 55 units with a marginal presence in a segment it once competed in a more expressive manner. The Gloster recorded zero units as it will soon be replaced by the more premium Majestor to take on Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, VW Tiguan R Line and more.
