The Standard pack is priced at Rs 17,99,000 (ex-showroom) for the Kia Carens Clavis EV BaaS with a down payment starting at Rs 51,520

Kia India has introduced a Battery-as-a-Service finance programme for the Carens Clavis EV devising ownership around a dual-loan model that separates the chassis and battery into two distinct loan accounts. The Standard pack is priced at Rs 17,99,000 (ex-showroom) with a down payment starting at Rs 51,520, a chassis price of Rs 12.84 lakh and EMI starting from Rs 26,650 per month.

The Extended pack is priced at Rs 21,99,000 ex-showroom with a down payment from Rs 60,452, a chassis price of Rs 15.94 lakh and EMI from Rs 33,099. Both packs share the same battery subscription rate of Rs 3.3 per kilometre with tenure of 60 months for the vehicle body and 96 months for the battery component.

The programme is supported by ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Bajaj Finserv. The longer battery tenure is the key lever that brings monthly outflows down to a more accessible level. Separating the battery cost from the vehicle cost gives customers visibility into exactly what they are paying for each component with the per-kilometre battery pricing working favourably for those who cover lower annual distances.

Its application to the passenger vehicle segment remains in the fledgling stage and Kia entering this space with the Clavis EV adds a credible four-wheeler option to a structure that has demonstrably reduced the entry barrier at lower price points. As competition in the electric MPV and family SUV space growing, the timing of this programme makes commercial sense for Kia.
