In the list of most sold midsize SUVs in April 2026, Hyundai Creta remained first ahead of Mahindra Scorpio and Maruti Suzuki Victoris

The Hyundai Creta continued to lead the category despite witnessing a 10.1 per cent decline in volumes. The Creta managed to record 15,291 units and retained a segment share of 13.4 per cent in April 2026. The midsize SUV segment as a whole saw total volumes climbing to 1,13,850 units compared to 88,527 units during the same month last year.

The Mahindra Scorpio lineup comprising the Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic stayed behind but not far away in second position with 14,719 units but it too saw a marginal 5.2 per cent dip on a year-on-year basis as it is the first month of the new financial year. Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki’s recently introduced Victoris emerged as one of the biggest highlights in the category.

The SUV garnered a total of 13,701 units in April 2026 and instantly grabbed a 12 per cent share of the midsize SUV space. The Kia Seltos which received a new generation only a few months ago registered one of the strongest gains among established nameplates as sales jumped 72.2 per cent to 10,566 units from 6,135 units during the corresponding month last year.

The Mahindra Thar continued to maintain healthy demand with 10,459 units but volumes were slightly lower than last year. The Toyota Hyryder delivered a major growth surge as sales nearly doubled to 9,115 units. The hybrid SUV posted a massive 96.4 per cent year-on-year surge as it picked up where it left off last FY with over one lakh unit sales.

Mahindra & Mahindra maintained a notable overall presence in the segment with multiple products featuring in the top ten. For instance, the Bolero recorded 8,917 units while the XUV 7XO added another 8,630 units with a healthy 26.7 per cent increase. The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara also remained steady with 7,718 units and a 7.9 per cent growth compared to April 2025.

Mahindra XUV 7XO (17)

The country’s highest selling passenger electric vehicle, the MG Windsor, slipped by nearly 10 per cent to 3,296 units while Mahindra’s all-electric 9S graced the chart with 3,242 units. The Tata Harrier recorded one of the highest growth rates in the segment as volumes surged 151.5 per cent to 2,545 units while the Tata Safari also posted positive growth with 1,467 units.

Among zero-emission entries, the Mahindra XEV 9e recorded 1,611 units but witnessed a 34 per cent decline compared to last year. The Tata Curvv saw a noticeable fall of 55.4 per cent as volumes dropped to 1,403 units. The Mahindra BE 6 rounded off the segment performance with 1,170 units and an impressive 112.7 per cent growth.
