Skoda Kodiaq Gains ADAS And LED Matrix Headlamps In India

GaadiWaadi –

Skoda upgrades the second-generation Kodiaq in India aiming to enhance its appeal against the more feature-loaded Tayron from sister brand Volkswagen

Unlike in European markets, Skoda has been offering the second-generation Kodiaq without ADAS, but that’s about to change soon. A year after launching the latest model in our market, the company has finally announced plans to offer it with ADAS.

Skoda has confirmed that it will equip the Kodiaq with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Front Assist with warning and braking reaction, Lane Assist (Lane Keeping System), Side Assist (Blind Spot Detection and Lane Change System), Rear Traffic Alert, and Exit Warning System in India. The company will offer these seven advanced driver assistance systems only in the mid-tier Sportline trim and top-end Selection L&K trim, not the base Lounge trim.

The Lounge trim is a five-seater, while the Sportline and Selection L&K trims come with seven seats. This means customers who want ADAS in the Kodiaq will have no choice but to opt for the seven-seat version. Another feature already offered internationally but missing in India was LED Matrix headlights. Skoda has added even this feature with the latest update, and like the advanced driver assistance systems, offers it in the Sportline and Selection L&K trims, but not the Lounge trim.

Skoda used to offer the front light strip only on the Selection L&K trim, but now includes that feature on the Sportline trim as well. Similarly, it has extended the availability of the 360º camera system to the mid-range grade.

Under the hood, there’s the same EA888 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine married to the DQ381 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission, which works with an all-wheel drive system to direct power to the wheels. There’s 150 kW (201 hp) and 320 Nm of torque available at tap. The all-new Kodiaq delivers a fuel economy of 14.86 km/l.

Skoda has yet to announce the prices of the upgraded Kodiaq. Previously, the D-segment SUV was priced at Rs. 39,99,000 (ex-showroom) in the Lounge trim, Rs. 43,99,000 (ex-showroom) in the Sportline trim, and Rs. 46,49,000 (ex-showroom) in the Selection L&K trim. The Lounge trim’s prices could remain unchanged, but the Sportline and Selection L&K will likely get dearer with the added equipment.
