2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza is expected to get a new six-speed MT, underbody CNG tank and a host of new equipment and tech
Maruti Suzuki Brezza, a nameplate that debuted in 2016, has gone on to become a cornerstone of the compact SUV surge. Over the years, this space has expanded rapidly and now contributes to 31 per cent of the overall passenger vehicle market. The Brezza has been instrumental in that rise by regularly featuring among the top-selling models in the country. It has evolved into a practical and fuel efficient SUV with a customer base of over 14 lakh units.
In response to the growing competition, the Indo-Japanese manufacturer is currently working on a mid-cycle update. Mechanically, the facelift is unlikely to bring sweeping changes. The familiar 1.5-litre K15C DualJet petrol engine may continue producing around 102 bhp and 137 Nm while the CNG version is expected to retain outputs close to 87 bhp and 121.5 Nm despite speculations surrounding the addition of a three-pot 1.2L Z-series powertrain and a 1.0L turbo petrol mill.
However, a key update could be the introduction of a new six-speed manual gearbox – potentially replacing the current five-speed unit. Another important improvement is expected in the CNG variant where Maruti Suzuki is reportedly working on relocating the gas tank beneath the floor instead of inside the boot. If introduced, the underfloor setup may help improve luggage capacity.

On the outside, the refreshed Brezza is set to receive only subtle cosmetic tweaks. Spy shots suggest minor updates such as revised alloy wheel designs, slight changes to body cladding and possible lighting enhancements. The overall dimensions are expected to remain identical – continuing with its 3995 mm length, 1790 mm width, 1685 mm height and 2500 mm wheelbase, and 198 mm ground clearance.
The changes could be more noticeable on the inside. A larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system may replace the current 9-inch unit offering improved visuals and connectivity. The SUV already comes equipped with features like a heads-up display with navigation, 360-degree camera and SmartPlay Pro Plus system and the facelift is expected to further consolidate its tech package to stay competitive.

Safety equipment such as up to six airbags, Electronic Stability Program and Hill Hold Assist will continue as standard. Multiple sightings of heavily camouflaged prototypes indicate that testing is in its final stages as a launch could take place in the coming months.
