Hyundai is giving benefits of up to 10 lakh on the Ioniq 5, which it assembles from imported CKD kits. It is worth noting that this is the pre-facelift version, which the company replaced with a facelifted one in March 2024. The company may only launch the latest model in India after it has cleared stock of the old version, which dates back to February 2021. The South Korean automaker also sells a locally manufactured EV in our market – the Creta Electric.
In addition to the big discounts from automakers, businesses rushing to optimise their tax liability, CNG shortage, and petrol/diesel shortage fears are expected to boost EV demand this month. Businesses can claim up to 40% depreciation on EVs in the first year, as compared to 15% on ICE models.
