Tata Sierra Electric version will likely have a lot in common with Harrier EV and it will be available with two battery options and an AWD system
The Tata Sierra EV is edging closer to its official debut as Tata Motors has confirmed that the model will arrive in showrooms within the first quarter of FY27 – placing its launch window between April and June 2026. Multiple test mules have already been spotted across India suggesting that the development cycle is nearing completion.
Underpinning the forthcoming SUV will be Tata’s dedicated Acti.ev+ architecture, a flexible skateboard platform developed to support different battery sizes and drivetrain layouts. The Sierra EV is also expected to share several components with the Tata Harrier EV – giving it a reliable technological base within the brand’s expanding EV portfolio.
In terms of positioning, the Sierra EV will sit above the Tata Curvv EV – targeting buyers seeking a more premium midsize electric SUV possible below the electrified Harrier. It will likely be offered in both single-motor rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive configurations with the latter expected to deliver greater performance and capability.

Battery options could include a 55 kWh pack similar to the one used in the Curvv EV alongside a larger 65 kWh unit sourced from the Harrier EV. With the bigger battery, the Sierra EV is expected to deliver a real-world driving range of over 500 km. Fast charging support will be included along with advanced features such as vehicle-to-load (V2L) and bidirectional charging functionality.
On the design front, the Tata Sierra EV combines retro design cues with modern EV styling. Drawing from the original Sierra, the new model is expected to feature a closed-off grille, a full-width LED DRL signature and a split headlamp setup. Other highlights may include flush door handles, newly styled alloy wheels, muscular wheel arches and a connected LED light bar at the rear.

The cabin will get a three-screen layout comprising a digital instrument cluster, a large central infotainment system and a dedicated passenger-side display. Higher variants could further offer Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, auto climate control, powered tailgate and so on.
The pricing could start from around Rs. 18 lakh (ex-showroom) and the Sierra EV will also play a crucial role in consolidating Tata’s EV lineup moving forward joining models like the recently updated Punch EV with more products including the first model from the Avinya family expected next year.
