New Volkswagen Taigun gets notable updates inside and out while a new eight-speed automatic transmission will likely be added to the lineup
Volkswagen India has offered an early look at the updated Taigun confirming that the SUV will make its official India debut on April 9, 2026. The brand’s second product launch for the year following the Tiguan R Line gets visual enhancements and interior revisions while new features and technologies will be added amidst retaining engine options.
The refreshed VW Taigun will get more prominent character lines and a more sculpted body while the overall stance appears wider and more planted. It will continue to sit on the heavily localised MQB A0 IN platform. The teaser shows the presence of the side profile with redesigned LED tail lamps that will be connected by horizontal LED light strip.
You could also see updated LED headlamps while a lit Volkswagen logo and a DRL strip are also likely. It will also receive new alloy wheels and features such as roof rails and rear spoiler will be retained along with revisions to the bumpers at the front and rear. The 2026 Taigun will more likely get updated upholstery and more premium surface trims. Features such as a larger 10.25-inch digital instrument console, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, powered and ventilated seats at the front and a dual-pane sunroof are speculated to arrive.

Volkswagen could improve cabin cooling by employing a variable-geometry compressor while the rear seats may gain a massage function in a similar fashion to the recently updated Kushaq. Buyers can expect the 1.0-litre turbo three-pot petrol engine making 115 hp and 178 Nm and the bigger 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol mill producing 150 hp and 250 Nm to remain in place. A new 8-speed torque converter automatic unit could be added to the range.
