All-new Hyundai compact EV is expected to arrive later this year or in early 2027 with two battery pack choices and a packed features list
Hyundai is moving closer to consolidating its electric vehicle portfolio in India as its all-new compact electric SUV has been spotted undergoing road tests multiple times. The heavily camouflaged prototype points to a launch before the end of 2026 or during the opening months of 2027. Slotted below the Creta Electric, it is expected to become Hyundai’s most affordable electric SUV and could deliver a certified driving range of more than 500 km.
Hyundai and Kia continue to share several technologies across global product programmes and the upcoming Hyundai compact EV is expected to have substantial commonality with the recently unveiled Kia Syros EV. The Syros EV offers 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery packs delivering ARAI-certified ranges of 443 km and 526 km respectively.
A similar battery strategy for Hyundai’s compact e-SUV could allow the larger battery option to easily cross the 500 km mark as well. Spy photographs indicate that Hyundai has opted for a distinctive design instead of utilising an existing ICE SUV. The test vehicle carries a tall stance comparable to the Venue while boasting styling elements influenced by Hyundai’s global electric models.

Sleek segmented LED daytime running lights sit high on the fascia whereas the primary headlamp units appear lower within the bumper. Flush-fitting door handles, black roof rails, aerodynamic alloy wheels measuring around 16 inches, a roof-mounted spoiler and vertically positioned rear reflectors have been observed despite the extensive camouflage.
A touchscreen infotainment system measuring around 12.3 inches, a fully digital instrument cluster, connected vehicle technology and Level 2 ADAS are all expected to feature on top-end variants. Like the Syros EV, the larger battery variant could also benefit from DC fast charging. Battery thermal management, regenerative braking and connected charging functions are also expected to feature prominently.

Other highlights could include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, over-the-air software updates, wireless smartphone charging, ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS, six airbags and a comprehensive active safety package. Upon launch, it will take on the Tata Nexon EV, Tata Punch EV, Mahindra XUV 3XO EV and Kia Syros EV.
