Top-end luxury models account for a record 28 per cent of sales as Mercedes-AMG volumes jump 50 per cent in the first half of 2026
Mercedes-Benz has registered its highest ever first half sales performance in India by retailing 9,768 units between January and June 2026. The luxury carmaker recorded 9 per cent year-on-year growth over H1 2025 while also delivering its best ever second quarter with 4,637 units with a 10 per cent increase. The company says volumes remained healthy across its portfolio and expects the positive momentum to carry forward into the second half of the year.
One of the biggest contributors to the record performance came from the top-end luxury portfolio. Vehicles in this category accounted for 28 per cent of total sales during H1 2026, the highest share achieved by Mercedes-Benz India so far. The segment expanded by more than 20 per cent supported by healthy volumes for the S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach range, Mercedes-AMG models and the recently introduced V-Class luxury MPV.
The performance division also delivered a notable result. Mercedes-AMG sales climbed 50 per cent during the first six months of 2026. The German company also highlighted good customer response to the new V-Class which has opened an entirely new product space within the luxury MPV segment. Bookings for the V-Class will reopen this month while customer deliveries are scheduled to commence in the festive season.

Battery electric vehicles continued to consolidate their contribution as well. Mercedes-Benz said BEV penetration doubled to 14 per cent of its total sales during the second quarter of 2026. The recently launched CLA BEV emerged as a major contributor behind the increase alongside the EQS SUV which currently stands as the company’s best-selling luxury electric SUV in India.
The long-wheelbase E-Class retained its position as Mercedes-Benz India’s highest-selling luxury sedan. According to the company, sales demand remained particularly high for the E 450 variant helping the executive sedan maintain its leadership within the segment despite growing competition from SUVs.

The brand steps into the second half of 2026 with notable surge in sales across conventional luxury vehicles and battery electric models.
