Nissan’s upcoming midsize SUV has shown its production face revealing a prominent grille, split lighting elements and Tekton branding

Nissan has revealed the front end of the upcoming Tekton through a new teaser. The model will sit above the Magnite and become the main volume SUV for Nissan in the Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 20 lakh space. It will make its global debut on July 9, 2026 before going on sale in India and is part of the brand’s push to bring in more models within the next two years.

The teaser image shows an upright front fascia carrying large Tekton lettering across the bonnet edge. Nissan’s round badge sits in the centre of a wide grille which gets horizontal elements and a red accent strip running across the face. The overall treatment gives the SUV a tougher look compared to the Magnite.

The lighting setup is one of the clearest details visible in the image. The Nissan Tekton gets rectangular LED headlamps placed on either side of the grille and are accompanied by vertically stacked daytime running lights near the outer edges. The front bumper also seems to feature squared-off sections lower down but the dark teaser treatment hides some details.

The bonnet design carries a raised central section, almost like a scoop-style surface, enabling the SUV a more muscular front profile. Roof rails, large outside mirrors and a tall windscreen can also be seen in the teaser as well. The Tekton will be based on the same architecture as the latest Renault Duster and is heavily localised.

The SUV will compete in the midsize space against tough competitors such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and MG Astor amongst others. The company needs the Tekton to do heavy lifting in the midsize SUV category where its Indian portfolio has been absent for years.

Powertrain details have not been officially announced but the spiritual successor to the Terrano will share its engines and transmissions with the new Duster as the 1.0L three-cylinder turbo and 1.3L 160 hp producing turbo petrol engines will be utilised. Both manual and automatic transmissions will be offered, however, hybrid technology could be part of the package as well.

The equipment list could include a large touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, wireless smartphone connectivity, automatic climate control, connected car tech, six airbags, 360-degree camera, parking sensors and ADAS on higher variants.
