Honda will launch several new hybrid models and EVs in India in the coming 12-15 months, including a few imported vehicles

Honda announced the introduction of 10 all-new models in the next four years by 2030, which will be largely hybrid and all-electric vehicles. The global strategy of rolling out these models also includes India as it is one of the key markets for the Japanese brand. Hence, we can expect multiple new Honda hybrid and electric cars launching in our country in the coming 12-15 months. Hence, in this piece, we will talk in detail about the upcoming Honda hybrid and EVs in India in 2026-27.

1. Honda Prelude Hybrid

Likely to be launched in the next 2-3 months, Honda Prelude hybrid coupe will be brought to the Indian shores via the CBU route. As per the recent media reports, the Japanese brand is presently in the process of finalising E20 fuel compatibility and tyre specifications. The Prelude hybrid will be available in limited units as it becomes Honda’s first two-door coupe in India.

Honda Prelude hybrid comes equipped with a 2.0L petrol engine in the global markets which develops top power of 197 bhp. The power will be transmitted to the front wheels through simulated gear shifts. The hybrid coupe, being a niche model, could be priced around Rs 80 lakh (ex-showroom) in the Indian market.

2. Honda ZR-V Hybrid

The ZR-V hybrid SUV would be Honda’s second new model in India as it goes on sale by the end of 2026. In international markets, the ZR-V is positioned below the CR-V as it is more of a crossover offering than a full-fledged SUV. The imported model could house a 2.0L petrol hybrid powertrain setup with power output of 177 bhp, mated to an e-CVT gearbox and all-wheel-drive system.

Honda ZR-V

Since it will be retailed as a CBU model, we can certainly expect a starting price in the ballpark of Rs 50-55 lakh (ex-showroom). However, Honda will have to be rather careful with the pricing to get a decent buyer response. Still the prices ranging between Rs 50-55 lakh will make it a premium hybrid model and the demand is not likely to be on the higher side.
