Renault and Nissan will expand their SUV portfolio in the coming months with multiple all-new models in the Indian markets
Renault and Nissan are all set to launch 4 new SUVs in the coming 9-12 months in the Indian market. While the French brand has made a comeback in the compact SUV segment with the Duster, the Japanese brand is yet to re-enter the segment. Apart from the traditional 5-seater SUVs, both brands are likely to launch a 7-seater version of these models by mid 2027. Hence, in this piece, we will talk in detail about the 4 new Renault-Nissan SUVs launching in India by 2027.
1. Nissan Tekton

The Tekton will break cover on July 9, 2026 in the Indian market as Nissan attempts to make a return in the highly anticipated compact SUV segment after almost 3 years since the Kicks was phased out in 2023. Firs things first, Nissan Tekton is the badge-engineered version of Renault Duster which went on sale earlier this year in our market. It shares the engine options and architecture with the Duster. The buyers will be able to avail the Tekton with 1.0L turbo petrol and 1.3L DI turbocharged petrol engines with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard.

2. Nissan 7-Seater SUV

It will be the brand’s flagship and most expensive model in the Indian market to take on formidable rivals in the segment such as Mahindra XUV 7XO, Tata Safari and Hyundai Alcazar. While it will borrow the 1.3L turbo petrol engine from the Tekton, we expect it to carry the bigger 1.8L strong hybrid powertrain setup as well. The overall styling, cabin and feature list will be identical to the Tekton. However, the length and wheelbase have been increased to accommodate the third row of seating. The pricing too would be higher as compared to the Tekton.
3. Renault Duster 7-Seater SUV

The French automaker has commenced the road testing of Duster 7-seater in India as the SUV was recently spotted with heavy camouflage. The design is inspired by the 5-seater Duster with a few cues borrowed from the Dacia Bigster. It gets an elongated rear overhang for the third row of seats. The rear quarter glass and roof rails also appear to be bigger in size. Mechanically, it will be powered by the same engines as the 5-seater Duster which includes 1.0L turbo and 1.3L turbo petrol units.

4. Renault Bridger

To be positioned between the Kiger and Duster, Renault Bridger is going to be a sub 4-m lifestyle SUV which is likely to debut in the second half of 2027. Codenamed as RB3K2, it will be offered with striking design elements such as 18-inch wheels, upright stance, squared-off wheel arches and boxy fenders. It will directly rival Kia Syros and Mahindra Vision S based rugged SUV in the Indian market. Fondly called the ‘Mini-Duster’, it will be available only with petrol engines. A factory-fitted CNG version could also be rolled out at a later stage.
