Maruti Suzuki to double down on the rising popularity of SUVs in India with the launch of five new ICE models by next year
Since the launch of the Vitara Brezza in 2016, Maruti Suzuki has gradually built a wide line-up of six SUV models. The company continues being bullish about the body style and is planning five new SUV launches by next year alone, although some of them will be updates or redesigns of existing products.
1. New Maruti Brezza

The Maruti Brezza, which was launched in June 2022, is likely to get a facelift in Q3 2026. The updated model should feature minor design changes to the bumpers, grilles, headlamps and tail lamps, a larger, 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, and ventilated front seats. A new 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine producing 99 hp and 147.6 Nm of torque is also expected to be introduced with the mid-cycle refresh. Lastly, the CNG variant could see a significant improvement in the boot space with an underbody CNG fuel tank.

2. New Maruti Baleno

In the coming months, the Maruti Baleno will get a minor facelift. Spy shots have shown the updated version featuring a new radiator grille with a wide horizontal slat, tweaked headlamps, and a new bumper. Maruti Suzuki may re-introduce a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine with this update.
3. New Maruti Fronx

Launched in April 2023, the Maruti Fronx will be due for a facelift next year. In April 2026, spy shots surfaced on the web allegedly showing a camouflaged prototype of the facelifted Maruti Fronx. Besides the usual dose of updates such as restyled bumpers, redesigned headlamp and tail lamp graphics, new wheels, and some interior additions, the new Fronx is set to come with a series-hybrid powertrain claimed to deliver a fuel economy of around 35 km/l. It will likely be launched in early 2027.

4. Maruti Y43

The Maruti Ignis didn’t receive much success, but Maruti Suzuki is working on another micro-SUV to challenge the likes of Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter. Codenamed Y43, the new model should feature a much funkier design and come equipped to the brim with new premium features, such as a sunroof, a wireless smartphone charger, and a USB Type-C PD charging port. No details about this model are available at the moment, but it is expected to be launched in 2027.
5. New Maruti Grand Vitara

The mid-size SUV segment has seen a barrage of new launches in recent months, and there are more new models coming later this year. Maruti Suzuki will likely roll out a facelift for the Grand Vitara next year to ensure it remains relevant on the market. The company may use this opportunity to add new features such as Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems, smart powered tailgate, power driver’s seat, and more. It may also introduce an underbody CNG tank to improve the boot space of the CNG variant.
