Tata Motors has sold close to 60,000 Units in the month of May 2026 with a 42 per cent YoY growth courtesy of good reception in both ICE and electric segments
The monthly EV sales hitting a new high of 10,517 units was the standout number in Tata Motors’ performance in the month of May 2026 as far as passenger vehicles are concerned with an 85 per cent year on year jump over the 5,685 units sold during the same period twelve months ago as it consolidated its dominance at the top of EV charts.
It is the highest single month EV volume in the brand’s history and deepens its lead in the electric passenger vehicle space thanks to the good reception for Nexon EV, Punch EV, Tiago EV and Harrier EV. Recently, the Punch EV and Tiago EV received facelifts along with their respective IC-engined twins.
The total domestic and international sales came in at 59,790 units in May 2026 – up 42 per cent from 42,040 units sold during the corresponding period last year. The domestic passenger vehicle dispatches stood at 59,090 units against 41,557 units in the same month last year – growing 42 per cent on a year on year basis.

The international business volumes contributed 700 units – up 45 per cent from 483 units in May 2025. Meanwhile, Vahan registrations grew over 50 per cent year on year during the month – reiterating the retail demand picture behind the wholesale numbers. The May performance places Tata Motors firmly amongst the top positions in the PV market based on Vahan registrations.
The combination of a refreshed ICE lineup including the new Sierra and updated Tiago range alongside the expanding EV portfolio which already comprises the Punch EV, Nexon EV, Curvv EV and Harrier EV has been instrumental in its success. Next up, Tata is looking to bring in the electrified Sierra this quarter, utilising two battery options.
