A full size SUV stretching beyond five metres in length, carrying triple differential locks and offering massaging front seats has now entered the Indian market grafted with an MG badge. JSW MG Motor India has officially launched the Majestor positioning it above conventional ladder frame SUVs through larger dimensions, modern off-road hardware and a feature loaded cabin.

Prices begin at Rs. 40.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the rear wheel drive automatic top trim which has been made available in six and seven seat layouts. The four wheel drive version arrives at Rs. 44.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and remains exclusive to the seven seat configuration. Compared to the Gloster, the Majestor gets a range of enhancements inside and out.

An eight-speed automatic gearbox comes standard across both variants while the four wheel drive system introduces ten terrain modes alongside crawl control functionality.

The Majestor also receives front, rear and centre differential locks becoming the first SUV in this category to combine all three. MG says the setup allows the SUV to maintain traction even when multiple wheels lose grip across difficult terrain conditions. Dimensionally, the SUV slots itself among the largest products in the segment.

Overall length stands at 5,046 mm while width reaches 2,016 mm and height climbs to 1,870 mm. Wheelbase measures 2,950 mm giving the Majestor noticeably larger road presence than several premium three-row SUVs currently sold in India. In addition, the all important ground clearance stands at 219 mm and water wading capability extends to 810 mm.

The styling itself follows the same off-road friendly approach. A tall bonnet line, large grille, vertically stacked lighting elements and connected rear lamps dominate the exterior. The cabin boasts a tech-loaded equipment package. For instance, the front occupants receive ventilated and massaging seats with memory functionality while three zone climate control, dual wireless charging pads and a panoramic sunroof are other important bits.

MG has also added dual 12.3-inch displays and a 12 speaker JBL audio setup alongside more than 75 connected car functions. The SUV also gains black themed upholstery, ambient lighting and powered front seats to further push the Majestor closer towards premium monocoque SUVs despite retaining traditional body on frame proportions underneath.

Safety equipment comprises Level 2 ADAS functions along with a 360 degree HD camera, electronic stability systems and multiple traction control features. MG has additionally introduced an electronic parking brake with auto hold and a column mounted gear selector arrangement. Under the MG Shield programme, consumers receive a three-year unlimited kilometre warranty, roadside assistance and labour free scheduled services.

The company is also offering an assured buyback package claiming up to 70 per cent residual value. The Majestor now enters a category currently dominated by Toyota Fortuner while also competing with Jeep Meridian, Skoda Kodiaq and VW Tiguan.
