Renault Bridger is expected to slot below the Duster in the brand’s lineup upon likely launch before the end of next calendar year in India
Renault has filed a design patent for the Bridger in India giving a profound look at what the French brand is planning for the compact SUV segment. The patent image reveals a distinctly rugged and upright design language that sets the Bridger apart from the typical rounded crossover styling that dominates the segment and from Renault’s own Duster and Kiger in the Indian lineup.
The design is immediately recognisable for its boxy proportions. A near vertical windscreen, flat roof with a contrasting black panel and blacked out pillars across all three rows enable the Bridger a more utilitarian character. The front end features a wide horizontal grille with a mesh pattern and slim integrated headlamp units that wrap into the front fenders.
A prominent black lower bumper with a silver skid plate insert completes the front end treatment. The side profile shows pronounced wheel arch cladding in black running along both axles – connecting to rocker panel cladding that runs the full length of the sill. The body sides are relatively clean above the cladding with minimal character lines – letting the boxy proportions speak for themselves.

A fuel filler flap is visible on the rear quarter panel confirming petrol and likely CNG powertrain options at least initially. The five spoke star-shaped alloy wheels with a dark finish complement the rugged visual brief. At the rear, the sub-four-metre SUV gets an upright tail with a blacked out D pillar and a relatively large rear glass area.
The Renault Bridger will be built on a new platform supporting petrol, CNG, mild hybrid and electric powertrains. The petrol option is expected with 1.2-litre naturally aspirated and turbocharged engine choices. A 48V mild hybrid setup with the 1.2 litre turbo petrol is also likely. An electric variant with dual battery options is also being speculated.
