In the list of top 25 most sold cars in March 2026, Maruti Suzuki Dzire finished first ahead of Tata’s SUV duo of Punch and Nexon
At the top of the sales chart, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire emerged as the best-selling car with 21,224 units – posting a 37 per cent jump compared to 15,460 units in the same month last year. The Tata Punch secured second place with 20,977 units with very little to separate them – growing 18 per cent on a year-on-year basis.
The Tata Nexon followed in third position at 19,810 units – a notable 21 per cent increase. Meanwhile, the Hyundai Creta slipped slightly recording 17,838 units as the sales were down 1 per cent compared to last year. The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga maintained its lead of the MPV segment with 17,072 units and a minor 2 per cent growth.
In contrast, the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R saw a marginal dip of 1 per cent at 17,025 units. The Maruti Suzuki Baleno registered one of the best performances in March 2026 – climbing 33 per cent to 16,392 units. The Maruti Suzuki Brezza reported a slight 3 per cent decline despite selling 16,130 units while the Maruti Suzuki Fronx grew 14 per cent to 15,540 units.

The Mahindra Scorpio also continued its steady run of form with 14,578 units – up 5 per cent year-on-year. Further down the pecking order, the Maruti Suzuki Swift experienced a significant drop of 18 per cent – settling at 14,545 units. On the other hand, the Kia Sonet posted a 56 per cent surge by reaching a domestic tally of 12,012 units.
The Maruti Suzuki Alto and Maruti Suzuki Eeco continued to deliver consistent numbers with 11,515 and 11,333 units respectively. The Hyundai Venue grew 7 per cent to 11,147 units while the Kia Seltos endured a massive 69 per cent jump – reaching 11,041 units. The Mahindra Thar and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder also recorded strong gains.

Towards the lower end of the table, models like the Toyota Innova range saw stable growth at 3 per cent. The Mahindra Bolero and Mahindra XUV 3XO registered healthy increases while new nameplates such as Victoris, XUV 7XO and Sierra reported good volumes.
