Maruti Suzuki headed the sales charts in Feb 2026 with 1,54,390 registrations as it posted a healthy 28.3 per cent year-on-year growth
The passenger vehicle registrations in India witnessed notable growth in February 2026 as it reached 3,82,812 units with a 25.2 per cent increase compared to 3,05,841 units recorded during the same period last year. However, on a month-on-month basis, volumes declined from 4,98,638 units in January 2026 – enduring a typical slowdown following the high sales momentum seen at the beginning of the year.
Leading the market by a considerable margin was Maruti Suzuki with 1,54,390 registrations as it posted a healthy 28.3 per cent year-on-year growth. The company also expanded its market share to 40.3 per cent – up from 39.4 per cent during the same period twelve months ago. Despite the appreciable annual growth, registrations dropped 28.3 per cent compared to January 2026.
The battle for the second spot remained close between Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra. Tata secured 55,260 units by recording a 42.5 per cent year-on-year increase and improving its market share to 14.4 per cent. Mahindra followed in the third position with 53,479 units – up 25.7 per cent year-on-year giving the brand a 14 per cent share of the market.

Among other big manufacturers, Hyundai Motor India remained the fourth largest car brand with 45,565 registrations with a 15.8 per cent annual growth. However, its market share slipped slightly to 11.9 per cent – down from 12.9 per cent a year earlier. Toyota Kirloskar Motor secured fifth position with 26,407 units with a 13.3 per cent year-on-year growth.
Kia India ranked sixth with 24,994 units in registrations – delivering 28.3 per cent growth compared to February 2025 while slightly increasing its market share to 6.5 per cent. Meanwhile, the combined registrations of Skoda Auto and Volkswagen stood at 7,545 units with an 11.9 per cent growth over last year but their share dipped slightly to 2 per cent.

Further down the order, Honda Cars India reported 4,763 registrations with an 11 per cent decline year-on-year while MG Motor India recorded 4,538 units – down 6.2 per cent compared to last year. Renault India managed to post a 27.4 per cent increase with 3,246 registrations despite a noticeable drop from January levels.
Nissan Motor India recorded 1,618 registrations while Citroën India delivered 804 units – posting the highest growth rate in the list at 88.3 per cent year-on-year. Jeep India rounded out the table with 203 registrations.
