The return of the Tata Sierra has played out as good as expected as it has become one of the biggest growth drivers for Tata Motors in the final quarter of FY26 – aiding the brand to significantly consolidate its position in the midsize SUV space. In the period between January and March 2026, Tata’s midsize SUVs – Sierra and the Curvv – posted combined sales of 28,129 units.

The numbers led to a steep jump from 10,355 units in the same period last year with a 172 per cent year-on-year growth as the segment contributed over 14 per cent of Tata’s overall passenger vehicle volumes for the quarter. A few months ago, the Sierra nameplate returned to the domestic market based on the new ARGOS platform and its initial response was exceptional.

It crossed 70,000 bookings in a single day and its impact in the sales table is clearly felt. The new-gen Sierra closed out the financial year by recording just over 9,000 units in March 2026 and it was the third best-seller for the brand behind Nexon and Punch. Reservations have already crossed the one lakh mark, and by March 2026, around 14,000 units were handed over to customers.

The Nexon added 2,16,054 units in FY26 with a huge leap over 1,63,088 units endured during the same period the previous fiscal with a 32.5 per cent increase.
