MG EV Sales Surge 66% In FY26; Windsor Tops India’s EV Charts

MG Motor India retailed a total of 62,591 electric vehicles between Apr 2025 and Mar 2026 in India against 37,730 units in FY25

MG Motor India has registered YoY growth of 66 percent in EV sales in FY26 as compared to FY25. The British brand retailed 62,591 electric vehicles between Apr 2025 and Mar 2026 in India against 37,730 units sold during the same period in FY25. As far as March 2026 sales is concerned, it sold 6,528 units with 19 percent YoY growth in the domestic market. The company also confirmed that it will introduce its first PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) in the Indian market ahead of the Diwali festive season around Aug-Sep 2026.

MG Windsor emerged as India’s top selling electric car and surprisingly, 70 percent of the total sales of the e-SUV came from non-metro cities. MG Motor revealed that Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai contributed to 30 percent, while the rest of India accounted for 70 percent of overall sales. It recorded YoY sales of 20 percent in March 2026.

MG Windsor is sold at a starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh + Rs 3.9/kms under the BaaS model. It has a top power of 134 bhp and peak torque of 200 Nm. The all-electric SUV comes with two battery pack options of 38 kWh and 52.9 kWh (PRO variant) with driving ranges of 332 km and 449 km, respectively. MG Windsor is sold with a lifetime battery warranty for the first owner.

Adorning the ‘AeroGlide’ design language, MG Windsor boasts of ‘Aero Lounge’ seats reclinable to 135 degrees and the massive 15.6-inch GRANDVIEW touch display on the centre console. The PRO variant is rolled out with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) technologies for powering external devices directly from the car and enabling energy sharing capabilities between compatible EVs, respectively.

Priced at Rs 18.10 lakh (ex-showroom), MG Windsor PRO registered over 8000 bookings within 24 hours of its launch, which took place in May 2025. Some of the notable features onboard the electric SUV are Level 2 ADAS tech with 12 major features and 3 levels of warning, powered tailgate and three new colour options namely Celadon Blue, Aurora Silver, and Glaze Red.

Recently, the company announced a price hike of up to 2 percent on the its ICE and EV models effective April 01, 2026 to partially offset the impact of continuous rising input costs. Additionally, the company will implement a price hike of up to 7 percent on the MG SELECT portfolio, effective April 1, 2026 including flagship models such as the MG Cyberster and MG M9.
