South Korean automaker lines up four heavily localised SUVs, including a pure electric model, for launch in India by next year
Hyundai has lined up 26 launches in the Indian market between the current financial year (FY2026) and FY2030. Following the second-gen Venue at the end of last year, the company introduced the facelifted Verna this month. By next year, it will introduce four more new locally manufactured models in our market.
1. New Hyundai Exter
The Hyundai Exter is set to turn three years old this July, and around that time, it will likely get its mid-life facelift. The Exter has not performed as well as Tata Motors’ Punch in the market, and Hyundai will try to make it more appealing visually and functionally with this update.

On the outside, the Exter may feature a new front grille layout, new graphics in the split headlamps, new 15-inch alloy wheels, and restyled bumpers. Interior highlights may include new features such as ventilated front seats, a new infotainment system with dongle-free wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto compatibility, and a rear USB Type-C charging port. The engine and transmission options are unlikely to see any changes.

2. Second-gen Hyundai Bayon
The first-gen Hyundai Bayon has been the brand’s Venue-equivalent for European markets, but its successor will be relevant to Asian and Latin American markets as well. In India, the second-gen Bayon (codename: BC4i) will slot above the all-new Venue, focusing more on style, tech, and performance.

The new compact SUV will debut Hyundai’s all-new 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, potentially the most powerful engine in the segment. A 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine is also expected to be offered. Hyundai will likely launch the all-new Bayon in India in September.
3. Hyundai HE1i
In Q1 2027, Hyundai will likely launch its Tata Punch.ev rival, codenamed ‘HE1i’. The electric micro-SUV will have a boxy exterior and likely be taller and overall slightly larger than the Exter. Spy shots have revealed that it will feature split headlamps and slim rear combination lamps with pixel-inspired graphics, raised roof rails, and flush-integrated door handles.

Inside, Hyundai will likely offer a 9.9-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Google built-in, ventilated front seats, a wireless smartphone charger, and an electrically operated sunroof.

4. Next-gen Hyundai Creta
The Hyundai Creta will enter its third generation in 2027, possibly in the third quarter of the year. The next-gen model will be significantly larger and more spacious than the current model. Based on a new ‘K3’ platform, it will have a greater structural rigidity. NVH levels are also expected to improve considerably.

The next-gen Creta will have a much stronger road presence, thanks to bigger dimensions, an all-new design inspired by the Crater concept, and larger, 19-inch alloy wheels. Inside, it could have the same 9.9-inch digital instrument cluster and 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Google built-in as the HE1i. A powered tailgate is also expected to be among the key features of the all-new model.
