The new Ola S1 X+ 5.2 kWh has been launched in India today and it could prove to be a game-changer in the mass-market electric scooter space. Priced at an introductory Rs. 1.29 lakh (ex-showroom), the latest addition to the S1 range brings long range capability and high performance hardware within reach of a wider audience.
The biggest highlight of the S1 X+ 5.2 kWh is the use of Ola’s indigenously developed 4680 Bharat Cell and introductory prices are valid only till the middle of this month. Ola Electric is effectively trickling down its in-house battery technology to a more accessible product following the price cut of the Roadster 9.1 kWh variant by Rs. 60,000.
The brand’s vertical integration strategy comprises cell manufacturing, battery pack development and complete vehicle production under one roof. On the performance front, the S1 X+ 5.2 kWh packs a serious punch. It is powered by an 11 kW mid-drive motor coupled with an integrated MCU – enabling a claimed IDC range of up to 320 km on a single charge.

The top speed stands at 125 kmph making it one of the quickest electric scooters in its segment. In addition, it gets Brake-by-Wire technology along with a front disc brake. The new scooter is part of Ola’s Gen 3 platform which has already expanded significantly across multiple price points. The lineup includes models like the S1 Pro+ and S1 Pro with different battery configurations while the S1 X range is available in 2 kWh, 3 kWh and 4 kWh battery options.
The addition of the 5.2 kWh variant pushes the envelope further by offering multiple configurations based on range and performance. Ola Electric has also been diversifying its portfolio in addition to scooters with the Roadster X electric motorcycles retailed in different battery choices.
