Toyota total sales of 3,67,152 units in FY2026 with a healthy 18.6 per cent growth over 3,09,508 units in FY2025

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder has emerged as a key volume driver for Toyota Kirloskar Motor in FY2026 – registering an impressive 99,890 units with a massive 65.4 per cent year-on-year growth compared to 60,388 units sold during the same period the previous FY due to increasing popularity of hybrid technology in the midsize SUV segment.

The engine options of the five-seater has played a big role in Toyota’s overall growth in India as hybrid seekers are treated with high mileage standards especially driving within city bounds. The brand posted total sales of 3,67,152 units in FY2026 with a healthy 18.6 per cent growth over 3,09,508 units in FY2025. Toyota’s market share also improved to 7.8 per cent from 7.2 per cent.

Since its debut, the Hyryder has significantly consolidated Toyota’s presence with an expansive range. Built on the same platform as the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, the Hyryder benefits from shared engineering and powertrain options while maintaining a distinct identity through Toyota’s design philosophy and hybrid expertise.

Under the hood, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder is offered with two powertrain choices. The highlight is the 1.5-litre strong hybrid petrol engine that produces a combined output of around 115 PS coupled with an e-CVT gearbox. The setup enables high fuel efficiency and the ability to run in pure EV mode for short distances. The second option is a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine delivering 103 PS and 137 Nm of torque.

It is available with both a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission. An all-wheel-drive configuration is also offered. In terms of pricing, the SUV is currently positioned between Rs. 10.99 lakh and Rs. 20.19 lakh (ex-showroom). The Hyryder’s success is also evident in its segment ranking where it secured the fifth position in FY2026 with an 8.2 per cent share.

Its appreciable growth comes at a time when several rivals have seen fluctuating sales numbers. Its contribution continues to be instrumental in Toyota’s upward trajectory in recent times besides the badge engineered products and with growing awareness around hybrid tech, the Hyryder is expected to maintain its consistency in the coming years alongside the Innova Hycross.
