All-new Tata Sierra in high demand right from launch and will be followed by new variants and a smaller version
The Tata Sierra has made a strong comeback after a two-decade hiatus, and Tata Motors has big plans this time around to capitalise on its popularity. The company is working on new variants of the all-new Sierra and also developing a smaller model to build a Sierra family.
In the coming months, Tata Motors will launch a pure electric variant of the all-new Sierra, presumably called ‘Sierra.ev’, in line with the company’s nomenclature for passenger EVs. The company partially revealed the Sierra.ev in a promotional video of the all-new Sierra last year, confirming a subtly modified and cleaner exterior design.
The Sierra.ev will feature a largely body-coloured upper front fascia, a thicker full-width light bar, and a mostly blacked-out lower front fascia. It will be devoid of the block-lettered “SIERRA” inscription seen on its ICE donor. Tata Motors may further differentiate the electric variant with more aerodynamic 19-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the colour scheme and decor elements could be different, and the software of the dashboard displays may have some tweaks to include EV-specific functions.

Tata Motors will likely launch the Sierra.ev in a single-motor RWD variant and a dual-motor AWD variant. The company may offer two LFP battery pack options with different energy storage capacities in the former and use the larger one as standard in the latter. The single-motor RWD variant with the larger battery pack could deliver a range of around 600 kilometres. The Sierra.ev should come with vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) bi-directional charging functions.
Sometime in the first half of 2027, Tata Motors will likely introduce a mechanical AWD system option in the ICE variant of the all-new Sierra. This would increase the appeal of the model among customers with a knack for adventure touring and off-roading. The company may offer this option only with the turbocharged petrol and diesel engines and in the higher-end trims.

The company will likely launch this model, codenamed ‘Scarlet’, in early 2028, with ‘Sierra’ forming part of its name. The smaller Sierra will compete with the production versions of the Renault Bridger and Mahindra Vision.S concepts, both due in 2027.
