Maruti Suzuki sat on top in March 2026 according to Vahan data as it finished ahead of Tata Motors, Mahindra and Hyundai

The PV space witnessed good sales numbers last month with most manufacturers reporting healthy gains across segments. At the very top, Maruti Suzuki retained its undisputed leadership position with 1,72,919 units – growing 28 per cent year-on-year and 10 per cent over February. Its 39.5 per cent market share shows its unmatched scale and reach.

In second place, Tata Motors posted 67,268 units including EVs – registering a healthy 31 per cent YoY growth and a 14 per cent MoM rise. Just behind in the third position, Mahindra & Mahindra recorded 61,032 units which include its zero-emission range – up 23 per cent annually and 9 per cent month-on-month.

Holding fourth position, Hyundai Motor India sold 48,623 units with 11 per cent YoY and 5 per cent MoM growth. Kia India followed in fifth with 27,987 units – posting an impressive 23 per cent yearly growth and 9 per cent monthly improvement. Not far behind, Toyota Kirloskar Motor reported 27,479 units – growing 8 per cent YoY but seeing a slight 2 per cent dip from February.

Skoda Auto Volkswagen India registered 8,676 units – showing a 10 per cent MoM recovery despite an 8 per cent YoY decline. Among the next set, JSW MG Motor India posted 6,233 units in March 2026 – up 12 per cent YoY and a notable 29 per cent MoM. Honda Cars India followed with 5,507 units – growing 7 per cent YoY and 12 per cent MoM.

Further down the list, Renault India clocked 3,588 units with a 36 per cent YoY rise while Nissan Motor India posted 2,538 units with a growth of 41 per cent YoY and 49 per cent MoM. In the premium segment, BMW India sold 1,559 units – up 13 per cent YoY whereas Mercedes-Benz India recorded 1,320 units – down 11 per cent YoY.

New Kia Seltos (7)

Citroen India saw a total of 758 units – up 126 per cent YoY while VinFast continued its early expansion with 688 units. Lower down, Jaguar Land Rover India posted 430 units – down 24 per cent YoY – BYD India managed 413 units and Jeep India recorded 210 units. Volvo Car India stood at 122 units ahead of Isuzu Motors with 72 units. Finally, Tesla India remained a niche player with 49 units but posted a notable 69 per cent month-on-month increase.
