Honda 0 Alpha EV test mule reveals a large cabin screen, boxy rear styling, new lighting details and India launch plan for 2027
Honda’s first electric SUV for India has been spied again as test mule of the near-production version of the 0 Alpha concept gives away plenty of details from Manali. The concept was previewed earlier as part of the brand’s 0 Series EV family and India is one of the key markets for the SUV as its launch has been planned for 2027.
The cabin spy shot reveals a large freestanding touchscreen placed at the centre of the dashboard. The display looks wider than the screens used in Honda’s current India range and the layout perhaps stems from a new electronic architecture and emphasises a more digital-heavy interface. A separate driver display can also be seen behind the steering wheel while the dashboard has a horizontal layout with slim vents and a clean centre section.
The steering wheel has a new design and the test mule appears to have a compact centre console area. Several parts inside the cabin are still covered, so final trim, switchgear, upholstery and equipment details may change before production. The large central screen, however, confirms that Honda is moving towards a more modern interior.

The rear picture shows a tall and almost vertical tailgate giving the SUV a boxy stance. The tail lamps have a vertical outer section with a rounded rectangular light signature while the rear windshield is wide and upright. The bumper has heavy cladding, a large lower section and a visible number plate recess. The test mule also gets a roof-mounted stop lamp and a high-set rear glass area.
The front end displays a camouflaged nose but the basic lighting setup is visible. The five-seater SUV gets square LED lighting elements on both sides and the main lighting units appear to sit inside a closed-off front fascia. The bonnet is short and smooth while the bumper has a wide lower intake area. The side profile points to a tall cabin, short bonnet, large glass area and compact overhangs.

The rear door and quarter glass area are shaped to maximise cabin space we would presume while the roofline stays nearly flat till the tailgate. The midsize electric SUV will compete with the Hyundai Creta Electric, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Tata Curvv EV, etc upon arrival. Honda has described the 0 Alpha as the gateway model for its 0 Series EV range.
The prototype shown earlier followed the brand’s “Thin, Light and Wise” design direction and the latest India test mule carries a similar approach. Reports indicate that the India-spec model could use a battery pack around 60 kWh to 70 kWh with a practical range target of around 450 km. A single-motor front-wheel-drive setup could be offered first.

The upcoming EV is expected to be manufactured locally with Honda’s Tapukara plant in Rajasthan seen as the production base. Honda’s current India range depends mainly on the Amaze, City and Elevate and the 0 Alpha will give the brand its first proper electric SUV for the local market and a new product in a segment where several rivals are already active.
