2027 Kawasaki KLX230 costs Rs. 35,000 more than the MY26 model and continues with the same two colour choices
Kawasaki India has launched the MY27 KLX230 at Rs. 2.19 lakh (ex-showroom). It is Rs. 35,000 costlier than the MY26 motorcycle while the mechanical package stays unchanged. The dual-sport motorcycle has been made available in a single Standard edition and can be bought in Lime Green and Battle Gray shades – the same two colour choices seen on the current version. The KLX230 S has been added this time around for the same price with 50 mm lower seat height courtesy of the reduced suspension travel.
The motorcycle keeps its slim off-road bodywork, compact LED headlamp, narrow fuel tank section, high-mounted front mudguard and flat seat as you might expect. The design follows Kawasaki’s KX-style trail bike theme with minimum body panels and a tall riding position. The motorcycle uses the same 233 cc air-cooled, four-stroke, single-cylinder engine.
The SOHC, two-valve motor produces 19 PS at 7,800 rpm and 19 Nm at 6,200 rpm and the transmission duties are handled by a six-speed gearbox. The chassis is a tubular semi-double cradle frame and Kawasaki has given the motorcycle a 37 mm telescopic front fork and a Uni-Trak rear swingarm setup.

The front wheel travel stands at 220 mm while rear wheel travel is rated at 223 mm. The long-travel suspension is accompanied by a 255 mm of ground clearance. The 2027 KLX230 runs on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels. Braking hardware consists of a 290 mm front disc with a dual-piston caliper and a 230 mm rear disc with a single-piston caliper.
The ABS system can also be disabled through a switch on the left handlebar when the rider wants more control on loose surfaces. The KLX230 measures 2,110 mm in length, 830 mm in width and 1,160 mm in height. The wheelbase stands at 1,370 mm while seat height is 880 mm. The fuel tank carries 7.5 litres and the curb mass is listed at 139 kg.

The MY27 update, therefore, only sees hike in pricing as the motorcycle retains the same engine, chassis, suspension layout, braking setup and colour options and going after the existing MY26 stock could prove to be a money saver. It must be noted that the KLX 230 was initially launched at Rs. 3.3 lakh before receiving a substantial price drop to Rs. 1.99 lakh and later to Rs. 1.84 lakh (all ex-showroom, prices). The customer deliveries for MY27 KLX will begin around September while the off-road spec R S is also part of the lineup.
