Tata Motors is all pumped to consolidate its EV lineup and enter into new segments this FY to extend its dominance at the top of India’s electric PV space
Avinya could become the biggest transformation in Tata Motors’ electric plans even before buyers see it in showrooms. The name is not expected to arrive as just another SUV badge but as a premium electric line sitting above the current Tata EVs with design and architecture ideas drawn from a far more advanced playbook.
The first model from Avinya is likely to surface during the second half of FY27. Earlier concepts showed a cleaner cabin philosophy, lounge style seating ideas and a minimalist exterior theme. The production version is expected to use next generation electrical hardware derived from Jagular Land Rover’s EMA architecture.
Before Avinya enters the picture, the homegrown manufacturer will bring back one of its recognisable names in electric form. The Sierra EV is expected during the July to September 2026 period and will complement the recently launched ICE version. Tata has already shown near production versions of the Sierra earlier and the EV will sit between the Curvv EV and Harrier EV.

The Sierra EV is expected to stay close to the concept in appearance with a squared stance, uncluttered body surfaces, connected lighting and an upright rear section. The cabin will feature a layered dashboard, large central display, panoramic glass roof, connected functions and ADAS tech. A large battery pack is also expected with range likely to cross 500 km on a single charge.
Tata is not limiting FY27 activity to all new products alone. Four updates across the current passenger vehicle range have received styling changes, cabin upgrades and other enhancements. The recently updated Punch ICE and Punch EV along with the Tiago ICE and Tiago EV facelifts have consolidated the brand’s good reception in the entry-level segments.

The forthcoming Tata Safari EV will sit at the top of Tata’s existing electric SUV family when it reaches the market likely around the festive season or the final quarter of FY27. Unlike the diesel Safari currently on sale, the EV will give Tata a three-row electric SUV squarely aimed at Mahindra’s XEV 9S.
Much of the Safari EV is expected to be linked to the Harrier EV underneath but the longer body and three row layout will give it a different customer base. Higher variants could receive a dual-motor AWD setup, large battery options, bi-directional charging capability, Level 2 ADAS and connected car features.
