JSW Motors will introduce its first passenger car in India by Diwali and its bookings will begin as early as November 2026

A new Indian car brand is set to enter the market around Diwali 2026 as JSW Motors is preparing to begin with new energy vehicles rather than conventional petrol or diesel models. The company will unveil its own car brand during the festive period with bookings for the first model likely to open in November 2026 following the successful alliance with MG Motor in recent times.

Deliveries are expected to begin towards the end of this calendar year or in early 2027 which gives JSW Motors a short window between brand debut, order opening and customer handovers. Its first product programme is already at an advanced stage judging by the recent spotting of test prototypes. The debut offering is expected to sit above the Rs. 35 lakh price point.

It will be placed in a premium electric or new energy vehicle category from day one. A second model is planned at a lower price band of around Rs. 18 lakh to Rs. 20 lakh allowing the company to move into a wider customer base after establishing the brand at the higher end. The first year itself could see more activity complementing these two models as it will look to expand volume sales.

Speculations point towards two to three additional products expected within the first year – suggesting JSW Motors is not planning a slow single model entry. The company seems to be preparing a quick portfolio build up across more than one price point. The larger product plan is far more aggressive than you think as JSW Motors is targeting 15 new energy vehicles over a four years period.

Thus, one new model is likely to enter the domestic market every three months. The planned price spread ranges from around Rs. 10 lakh to more than Rs. 30 lakh. Manufacturing will be centred at a 300 acre facility in Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra which will have an initial annual capacity of five lakh units before getting ramped up. A supplier network is also planned around the project.

It should help the company control localisation, parts availability and production scale as volumes increase. Multiple powertrains and customer segments are also part of the plan. The term new energy vehicles gives room for electric vehicles, hybrids or other electrified formats depending on market requirements and regulatory conditions.
