The driver benefits from an eight-way electrically adjustable seat with memory function, a rare feature in this segment. It also includes a welcome retract function that moves the seat back when the door is opened – making it easier to get in and out. The Verna also introduces a switchable interface that allows the driver to toggle between infotainment controls and automatic climate control using the same panel – an idea that keeps the dashboard looking clean while remaining practical. Under the bonnet, the Verna continues with two proven petrol engines that appeal to a various buyer preferences. The 1.5-litre MPi unit prioritise efficiency and everyday usability.
It is coupled with either a six-speed manual gearbox or Hyundai’s IVT automatic transmission. Performance enthusiasts, however, will likely gravitate toward the 1.5-litre Turbo GDi engine. The naturally aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine is tuned for smoothness and fuel economy during everyday commutes while the turbocharged unit balances performance with respectable efficiency when driven sensibly.
The latest Verna offers more than 75 safety features overall including Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 ADAS with 20 advanced driver assistance systems. Seven airbags, including a centre side airbag, are offered along with an integrated dashcam, surround view monitor and blind spot view monitor. Additional equipment such as rain-sensing wipers, tyre pressure monitoring, electronic stability control and an electronic parking brake with auto hold further consolidate the safety package.
For younger buyers entering the midsize sedan space, the new Hyundai Verna brings together style, connectivity and performance in a package that feels far more contemporary than traditional sedans of the past.
